my artistic journey

I am an Aboriginal artist working across glass art, painting, and jewellery. My practice is grounded in cultural inspiration and personal storytelling, expressed through contemporary materials and design.

I create artworks that honour connection to Country, culture, and identity while exploring modern forms, colour, and texture. Each piece is carefully crafted to carry meaning as well as beauty, inviting the viewer to engage with Aboriginal art in a contemporary context.

Through my work, I aim to create art that is both culturally respectful and accessible—pieces that can be worn, displayed, and lived with, while still holding story and significance.

My annual journey onto Country in North East Tasmania, at Little Musselroe Bay, grounds my thoughts and feelings. Walking in the footsteps of those who came before us, I am guided by the knowledge they shared—knowledge of the land, of respect, and of the responsibility to cherish our past and protect our future.

This connection to Country shapes my creative practice. Through my glass art, paintings, and jewellery, I carry these stories forward, transforming them into contemporary works that honour culture while bringing joy, beauty, and meaning into everyday spaces. This unique blend of traditional wisdom with modern materials is what defines GYS Glass Art.
